A multinational mining company used Sapling’s analytics and financial modelling services in a negotiation process with a government regarding the taxes that the company owned to the province, based on sales of metal assays done to third party vendors.

We developed a dynamic model that calculated the company’s revenues based on both accrual accounting and cash accounting methods, for all the vessels shipped by the company to other vendors over the period 2005-2018


The model featured dynamic scenario analysis, allowing varying metal assay components and metal pricing, which enabled rapid analysis of various scenarios during the negotiation process


We also conducted a thorough data analysis of the mine assay data from 3 different databases to understand how the composition of the extracted mineral ore changed over time
